When you envision your wedding day, you think of the most special day of your life. From getting pampered, to posing for pictures as if you’re a model for a day, saying “I Do” to your best friend and celebrating with your family and closest friends. You want to look back and remember it as the easiest and happiest day ever, not“ Oh my goodness I was rushing the entire day, I didn’t think I wasn’t going to make it to the alter in time!” Fortunately, we have come up with a solution that has proven to be successful and given brides up to 45 minutes to an hour of relaxation before she leaves the house. This is what we like to call the “Extra 15.”
While you are planning your big day in advance, give yourself an extra fifteen minutes for everything. Need to wake up at 7AM? Set your alarm for 6:45.
For a bride, the main components of the morning of your wedding consist of the following:
Hair – Approximately an hour
Makeup – Approximately a half hour
Reading letters/ Exchanging Gifts with your Groom – Approximately twenty minutes
Getting Dressed – Approximately a half hour
Now take all of those times and add an extra fifteen minutes. Why? Just in case your fake eyelashes do not stick on properly the first time and you need to reapply a few times or your flower girl isn’t sitting still while getting her hair done and it takes a few more minutes, you have those minutes to spare and not rush around.
At the end of the day, your wedding day will be perfect, but we can almost promise your day will not flow as perfectly as you have planned. The extra fifteen minutes can be used for the little hiccups that can compromise your schedule or if everything is flowing as expected, you can use those minutes to relax.
The extra fifteen minutes calculated in will give you little breaks in your day to take an extra sip or two of champagne, pose for some Snapchat selfies with your bridesmaids, be able to do touchups if necessary, breathe and get yourself situated for your next task. Those are all some of little things that you want to be able to do on your big day to help you relax and be less stressed, but also takes up some time. Having those extra minutes already built-in to your schedule will have you walking down the aisle at the promised time and not having your groom sweat at the altar waiting for you!
We provide all of our brides with this trick and it has proven to be successful every single time. Our feedback has been that they cannot believe that something so simple can create a relaxing and stress free day. Who wouldn’t want to kick back with their besties for fifteen minutes before they officially become a Mrs?
If you have used this technique on your wedding day, please share your experiences below or any other simple tricks you have to ease up someone’s special day!
